Revisiting DS106 Daily Creates

Gull eating a seastar on a small concrete pier in Vancouver. The dark water in gently rippling.
Did the seastar climb the ladder? MCW

It's been awhile since I played in ds106. I occaisionally notice one and create something, but I never only spend the 15 or 20 minutes recommended. This summer The Daily Creates stream has been added to the MYFest25 Discord channel and now #tdcs are posted on Mastodon. Luckily I've already been playing in those platforms too.

The prompt was to "Mix some synthetic bird sounds with this Sound Art: Interactive Synthetic Bird Sound Mixer"

I first thought of the first soundscape artists I heard, Beaver and Krause. Their 1967 album The Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music was a revelation. Since then Bernie Krause: The voice of the natural world has focused on natural sounds. Since the Bird Mixer uses artificial sounds I thought of mixing the clip I made with sounds from the Hatnote Listen to Wikipedia sound generator. More on that project from Hatnote.

My first audio #ds106 is #tdc4890 Soundscape Art.

I enjoyed generating and then editing these two very different aural experiences to create a new one. I hope you enjoy it!
